The Regional Cooperative of Coffee Growers of the Vale do Rio Verde Ltd. (COCARIVE) was founded on May 7, 1961, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit, unity and pioneering spirit of farmers from Carmo de Minas and neighboring towns. Its objective was to make local coffee production a reference point in terms of productivity and excellence in the production of high quality coffee, thus promoting the development of this important micro-region in the south of Minas Gerais. This region is located on the slopes of the Serra da Mantiqueira, near the sources of the Rio Verde. Due to the abundance of its extremely fertile and generous soils and its excellent mild climate, the region has established itself over the years as the main growing area for top quality coffees.

COCARIVE currently has 661 members and receives in its warehouses an average annual production of 150,000 bags of Coffea Arabica, including both natural and pulped natural coffees, which are entrusted for processing and marketing.

COCARIVE benefits from the direct and continuous collaboration of its 65 employees with different professional qualifications, including three agronomists who provide essential technical support to coffee growers during field work, disseminating and improving modern cultivation techniques to increase the productivity and quality of the fields in perfect harmony with nature and the environment.

For the post-processing and preparation of the coffees delivered to the warehouses, COCARIVE offers modern and suitable facilities, essential for processing almost the entire production of its members. This includes steps such as pre-cleaning and sorting, up to the electronic selection of the coffee beans.

The cooperative's store offers specific products necessary for the farms' agricultural activities. It provides members with inputs and all the necessary items to ensure adequate and effective management of coffee production.
